Open Barri d\
There are cultural events that do not need a red carpet to be relevant. Open Barri d'hivern , organized by 48h Open House Barcelona , has proven that when buildings are opened, it is the neighborhood that tells its own story. For fifteen days, Nou Barris became a laboratory for architecture, urban memory, and citizen participation with 7,372 participants . Open Barri in figures: architecture that connects with the neighborhood The first winter edition of Open Barri, held from February 16 to March 1, 2026 , has left data that speaks for itself: 7,372 total participants 31 scheduled activities 28 spaces open to the public 5,921 open house visits The initiative is part of the programming for the Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026 and extends the spirit of the architecture festival throughout the year, reinforcing proximity work with neighborhoods and local communities. Three pillars: Enter, Think, Listen The programming was structured around three concepts that propose different ways of approaching architecture and the territory: ENTER — Discover architecture from within Guided tours, open house events, Hidden Spaces (6 usually inaccessible spaces with 317 participants), Open Petits family activities, the Opengram visual contest, and Open Cuina gastronomic experiences. THINK — Reflect on memory, the city, and architecture The BarriBarcelona exhibition (1,000 visitors), photographic memory workshops with the Arxiu Històric de Roquetes, the talk on the lost heritage of Nou Barris, the Cel Obert project, the Geocaching Open Barri urban game, and a literary selection from La Capell. LISTEN — Experience architecture through sound and narrative Music x Architecture with sound tours, audiovisual screenings, and live music in Vallbona and the Casa de l'Aigua in Trinitat Nova (59 participants). The exhibition received 1,000 visitors . Cultural and territorial impact Open Barri d'hivern has consolidated a format that strengthens the relationship between architecture, culture, and the daily life of neighborhoods. The project has contributed to: Bringing architecture closer to citizens through accessible and participatory experiences Highlighting the value of heritage and urban memory in Nou Barris Activating collaboration networks between cultural facilities, entities, and residents Generating new narratives about the city from the perspective of its neighborhoods "Open Barri demonstrates that architecture is interesting when it connects with the daily life of neighborhoods and the stories of the people who inhabit them." — Elisenda Bonet, architect and director of 48h Open House BCN Coming soon: Open Barri of La Marina Open Barri is part of a programming line that 48h Open House Barcelona will deploy throughout 2026. After the winter edition in Nou Barris, the next event will be the Open Barri of La Marina , from April 13 to 26 , with a new program to continue discovering the architecture and history of Barcelona's neighborhoods from a proximity perspective. Neighborhood architecture and real estate value For professionals in the real estate sector, Open Barri illustrates a key principle: a neighborhood's architectural heritage is not just history, it is a context for life . Districts like Nou Barris, traditionally off the radar of the premium market, reveal a density of heritage and culture that translates into urban identity. When a neighborhood has programs that activate its architectural heritage and build community, a tangible effect occurs: stronger roots, higher participation, and, progressively, greater residential appeal . 📍 Practical information Event: Open Barri d'Hivern — Nou Barris Organized by: 48h Open House Barcelona Dates: February 16 — March 1, 2026 Location: Nou Barris District, Barcelona Participants: 7,372 people Program: Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026 Next edition: Open Barri of La Marina (April 13–26, 2026) In summary Open Barri Hivern brought together 7,372 participants in 15 days and demonstrated that neighborhood architecture is of interest when it connects with daily life. The format—open house days, hidden spaces, memory exhibitions, and participatory workshops—consolidates a replicable model: proximity culture linked to architectural heritage. For the real estate sector, this confirms that neighborhoods with an active cultural identity generate stronger roots and, in the medium term, higher residential value.
