Bread and Pizza Workshop in the Countryside Cooking classes

Enjoy a fun and friendly day of baking, eating and relaxing in the beautiful Catalan countryside surrounded by olive trees and mountain scenery, just 20 mins down the coast from Barcelona. With the added bonus of a swimming pool (in the warmer months) so don't forget to bring a towel! The day is a crash course in artisan bread making. We'll make our own loaves of bread from scratch, starting by mixing our dough, tending to it through the day and baking them in a hot oven at the end of the afternoon. While our bread dough is doing its thing, we’ll turn our attention to the wood-fired oven, prepare a fresh tomato sauce to go on our pizzas and plan how we’re going to top them! We’ll cook them together in the roaring hot oven, and enjoy them together outside!

 We’ll also learn how to make focaccia, using fresh herbs picked ourselves!

There are different ways to get to the mountainside venue - buses from Barcelona or nearby Gavà will take you to the village of Begues where I will pick you up and take you to the house. If you want to come by car, it's a 25 minute drive from Barcelona, please message for specific directions! Depending on the season and whether we're allowing for pool-time, we'll aim to finish around 3.30pm or 5.30pm, in time for those catching the bus back down the mountain. The whole afternoon is 4-6 hours, depending on time of year. Those that want to stay the night can do so and will find a bed prepared for them in one of the wood cabins - please send us a message to check prices and availability. This weekend is for you to relax and enjoy yourself, a break from the hustle of city life and a time to get back to nature and have a laugh with new friends. For those staying the night, Sunday 'brunch' can be served at a time that suits you. And you’ll be welcome to stay and enjoy the surroundings, before heading back to Barcelona. Please let us know if you'd like to stay the night so we can arrange a room for you. The price is a little extra for this of course! We have held workshops in every moth of the year, but being very much an alfresco affair, the only time we can't do it is if it's raining. In which case we will have to rearrange for another day, which might be the following day!

    We recently completed the workshop with Liam and couldn’t be happier. First of all the environment was stunning. He has a lovely terrace and a beautiful view. His knowledge on the topic was thorough and even though the day was slightly chilly he was a gracious host constantly trying to keep us comfortable. I can’t recommend this highly enough. Well worth the time and effort! 5

Evento de Liam

My passion for baking bread started as a need for a hobby when me and my housemate were too lazy to organise an internet connection in our flat in Brighton. With my evenings free of distractions, I started baking loaves instead. After limited initial success, I persevered (with a few disasters along the way), and before long was baking bread I was proud of. My obsession has led me on pilgrimages to Paris and Rome and to building an oven at my parents’ house in Cornwall, England with clay dug from the stream at the bottom of the garden. I came to Barcelona in 2011 and fell in love with the city and its food culture. My first baking workshops were at my girlfriend's flat, then at my friend Stella's beautiful farmhouse near Reus, where we have met some incredible people from all over the world, and shared some amazing memories. With our new place in the mountains overlooking the Mediterranean, I'm looking forward to meeting lots of new people and baking lots of delicious bread (and pizza)!
