I have been exposed to growing, harvesting and cooking fresh, organic foods since she was a child. There were grandma's vegetables and fruits, eaten fresh in the summer and fall, and preserved for and savored in winter. I was raised in the countryside on her father's trout farm, where I learned to clean and scale the fish at age 8. Once a year my family processed a whole pig for roasting and for aspic, and after a hunt rabbits hung upside down in the cellar – part of a regular tradition with my father and his hunting friends. Throughout my life I have shared cooking and serving food, gathering friends and family around the table for delicious meals and good talks often ending late at night. Schöne Heimat shares this natural way of seeking joy, meaning and beauty in life with an extended family. when I have to travel, food designer and great chef and teacher Inés Lauber takes over.
